Manchmal brauche ich schon wirklich lange, um ein Projekt zu vollenden. So war es auch mit diesem an und für sich total schönen Sommerkleid – Cocktail dress.
Ich habe es bei Cathy in einem ihrer Blogbeiträge gesehen und war gleich recht begeistert davon. Also lud ich mir im Mai 2014 (!) die Anleitung dazu herunter und begann mit Holst Coast zu stricken. Die Anleitung selbst ist typisch für Rililie, mit einfachen Mitteln zu einem schönen Resultat. Und wenn es doch einmal etwas verzwickter sein sollte, ist alles hervorragend bebildert und erklärt.
Und so strickte ich also munter vor mich hin, bis ich schließlich um den Bauch herum ins Stocken geriet. Nicht etwa, weil es zu schwierig war oder eine Stelle mir Kopfschmerzen bereitete. Sondern weil es sich so unglaublich in die Länge zog. Coast ist ein recht dünnes Garn. Es fließt fantastisch durch die Finger und fühlt sich auch nach dem Stricken wunderbar weich an, doch es waren einfach gefühlt eine Milliarde rechter Maschen. Also legte ich das unfertige Stück zur Seite und griff es ewig nicht mehr auf.
Dieses Frühjahr dann habe ich mir ein Herz gefasst und angefangen mein Kleid zu Ende zu stricken. Fast auf den Tag genau nach zwei Jahren also war es soweit, mein Kleid war fertig. Nunja, fast zumindest! Denn nachdem ich das Bündchen unten vollendet hatte, probierte ich erneut an. Ich mag ja kurze Kleidchen, doch sooooo kurz… das kam mir dann doch etwas zu aufreizend vor. Also entschied ich das Bündchen aufzutrennen und Länge hinzuzufügen. Bei der Gelegenheit kam mir dann auch die Idee Farbstreifen einzuarbeiten und einen anderen Abschluss zu wählen. Weitere zwei Wochen später war ich dann aber endgültig fertig und kann mich nun endlich für meine Geduld und mein Durchhaltevermögen belohnen, wenn ich dieses süße Kleidchen an sonnigen Sommertagen ausführe.
Sometimes it takes really long before I finish a project. This time it was this nice summerdress, called cocktail(dress) designed by LaMaisonRililie.
First I saw it on the blog of Cathy and I wanted to do one for my own. So I downloaded the pattern in May, 2014 (!) and began to knit with Holst Coast. The pattern was a typical Rililie-pattern, easy to understand and nice results with easy methods. And if it was a bit more tricky somewhere, good pics and explanations helped to come through.
I knitted and knitted down the body, but somewhere around the belly I lost my motivation to go on with this project. It was not because it was difficult to knit anywhere but I got bored of all these stockinette stitches I had to do with this thin yarn. I love the smooth surface of Coast, but to knit such a long body down was an ordeal for me. I laid the project aside for a year or so. I continued this spring to finally finish it. It was in May 2016, some days around second starting-anniversary of that project, that I really did the last stitches. After finishing the cuff and trying on my new dress, I thought I was too short at all, altough I like my dresses short 😉
I plucked up courage, unraveled the cuff, added length and decided to work some colored stripes down there and do another ending as describes in the pattern. After another two weeks I finished it finally and now I can reward myself by wearing this wonderful summerdress on sunny days.
