Ach wie schön: die Bonbon-Socken für Ela haben mich so richtig auf den Geschmack gebracht, was diese Farbkombination angeht. Viele Handarbeiter/-innen kennen das vielleicht: wenige Tage vor dem nächsten Geburtstag einer wichtigen Person aus dem Umfeld kommt einem dann noch die „Spontan“-Idee für etwas Selbstgemachtes – in meinem Fall dann Selbstgestricktes.
Sabrinas Geburtstag ist am 01. Februar und nur eine Woche zuvor, am 24. Januar entschied ich, ihr ein Paar Socken zu stricken. Größenwahnsinnig wie ich bin, beschloss ich dazu auch noch meine ersten toe-up-Socken zu stricken. Getreu dem Motto: wenn schon, dann richtig krass!
Also holte ich flugs die 2,5mm Nadeln aus der Kiste, dazu 4-fädiges Sockengarn von Lang Yarns in der wunderschönen Farbe Lavender und vanille und schlug die ersten Maschen meiner Fußspitze an. Die Anleitung Fine and Dandy Socks von Jessica Gore ist sehr ausführlich geschrieben und verhalf mir ohne Probleme am Ende zu meinen ersten Socken, die ich an der Fußspitze aufwärts gestrickt habe. Das Abketten des Bündchens sollte man wirklich elastisch machen, sonst wird’s am Ende zu eng beim Reinschlüpfen.
Am 31. Januar, also gerade rechtzeitig, habe ich den zweiten Socken fertig bekommen und konnte meine liebe Freundin am nächsten Tag mit diesem Paar erfreuen 🙂
This wool has such a beautiful color-combination and these socks for Ela let me fall in love for those colors. Maybe some of you wool-a-holics out there know that, when you have just a few days left until the next birthday of an important person and then you have this super-spontaneous idea of doing something handmade for her/him – in this case it should be something knitted for her.
Sabrina’s birthday is on Feb, 1st and only one week before, on Jan, 24th, I decided to knit her a pair of socks. Megalomaniac as I am, I also decided to try a new technique and work my first toe-up-socks ever 🙂
So I catched my 2,5mm needles out of the cupboard, two skeins of Lany Yarns in wonderful lavender and vanilla color and casted on the first stitches for the toe. I used the pattern „Fine and Dandy Socks“ which is written really detailed and so I had no problems with it at all, not even because this was a new technique for me. I advise everyone to bind off very elastic on the cuff end of the sock to avoid problems by getting in the sock later.
On Jan, 31st – just in time – I finished the second sock and so I could gift it to my good friend Sabrina the next day 🙂
